High Paulding County Water Bill: Check Usage Before Paying Blindly
Toilet dye test
Put a few drops of colored liquid in the tank, wait 10–15 minutes, then check the bowl. Color in the bowl means the flapper may not be sealing.
Outdoor use
Check irrigation timers, hose bibs, pool filling, pressure washing, landscaping, new sod, and freeze/thaw damage around outdoor lines.
Compare usage
Compare billing days and gallons/usage, not just dollars. A longer cycle or hidden leak can make the bill look like a rate problem.
| Problem | What to check | What to prepare before calling |
|---|---|---|
| Bill suddenly doubled | Toilets, irrigation, pool, hose bibs, billing days, meter movement when water is off. | Current bill, previous bill, photos, repair receipt, usage notes. |
| Cloudy water | County FAQ says it may be air in lines after work in the area. | Fill a glass, let it sit a few minutes and see if it clears. |
| Pool fill adjustment | Must be on sewer, not City of Dallas sewer; must be a brand-new pool install. | Proof of purchase and approximate gallons from receipt, letterhead or owner’s manual. |
| Outdoor leak or emergency | Meter, service line, visible water, low pressure, outage or water main issue. | Call Water Operations 24 hours at 770-445-2761. |
Pool Fill, Cloudy Water and Small Problems That Create Big Questions
Pool adjustment
Pool-fill adjustment requires sewer service, brand-new pool install, and proof of purchase plus approximate gallons. City of Dallas sewer customers are not eligible under the FAQ.
Cloudy water
If work was recently done in the area, cloudy water may be air in the lines. Fill a glass and let it sit; the water should clear if it is air.
Collections risk
If a balance is left unpaid and not paid after 90 days, the FAQ says it may be sent to the ONLINE Collections Department.
