High Las Vegas Water Bill: Outdoor Use, Pool and Leak Checks
Landscape watering
LVVWD says most significant increases in water use happen in summer, and about 60% of water use is outdoors on landscape irrigation.
High bill guidanceGrass sprinkler tip
If you have grass watered by sprinklers, LVVWD says to run irrigation for 12 minutes or less on assigned watering days.
Watering tipsPool water loss
LVVWD says pools can lose thousands of gallons a year from evaporation. A pool cover can reduce water loss.

Leak Adjustment and Leak Repair Reimbursement
Fix the leak first
Leak-related help starts after the leak has been repaired. Keep paid invoices, repair dates, photos and usage notes.
Check Leak Adjustment Program eligibility
LVVWD lists requirements including at least one baseline month of water use before the leak month, at least 50% increased consumption compared with the baseline, repairs completed within 60 days of the billing date when the leak was discovered, and online application within 90 days of the repair date.
Know adjustment timing
LVVWD says it may need to wait for the next bill to print so all leak/malfunction consumption is captured. An adjustment may take up to three bill cycles to reflect on the account.
Check repair reimbursement
The Leak Repair Reimbursement Program can reimburse qualified single-family residential property owners up to 50% of repair cost, up to $2,000 per event, with a minimum repair amount of $200 and paid invoice requirement.

Use the kiosk for urgent payment credit
Retail locations are convenient, but they may take several business days to post. If your account is urgent, the Valley View self-service kiosk is the smarter local route.
Do not ignore summer irrigation
Las Vegas summer watering can drive bills up fast. Check watering days, sprinkler run time, broken heads, drip lines and grass areas.
One-time payment does not show the bill
If you need to understand the charge, use My Account. BillMatrix one-time payment is for paying, not reviewing the full bill.
Call later in the week if not urgent
LVVWD says call volumes are high Mondays and Tuesdays. For non-urgent account questions, later in the week may save time.
