How To Pay a WSSC Water Bill Online

Open the official WSSC payment page

Start from WSSC Water’s Pay My Bill page or My WSSC Water login. Avoid third-party bill-pay sites that may add extra fees or delay payment posting.

Have the 10-digit account number ready

For app payment and account lookup, WSSC references the 10-digit account number. If you do not have it, use the official account lookup tool before guessing.

Choose ACH/e-check if you want to avoid card fee

WSSC says online e-Bill payment by ACH/electronic check avoids the convenience fee. Credit card payments use Quick Payment Options and have a fee.

Use phone or app if login is not working

The 24/7 IVR at 301-206-4001 lets customers pay, check balance, split a bill into two payments, request a seven-day extension and enter a meter reading.

If service is off, follow restoration rules

For disconnected service, WSSC says to pay at least 50% of the delinquent balance, agree to a payment plan for the rest, call for restoration and complete the Release of Liability.

Important: WSSC warns that third-party bill-pay companies may charge extra fees and WSSC cannot control when those payments arrive. Late third-party posting can cause late payments or service disruption.

WSSC Water FY2027 Water and Sewer Rates

WSSC’s rate schedule is based on average daily consumption during the billing period. Each bill can also include Ready-To-Serve charges and other fees, so use this as a rate reference, not a final bill total.

Average daily consumption Water per 1,000 gal Sewer per 1,000 gal Combined per 1,000 gal
0–80.9999 gallons/day $7.68 $10.22 $17.90
81–165.9999 gallons/day $8.68 $11.34 $20.02
166–275.9999 gallons/day $9.99 $14.25 $24.23
276+ gallons/day $11.70 $18.82 $30.52
Flat rate sewer charge $175.00 per quarter Applies where approved instead of usage-based sewer.

High WSSC Water Bill, Leak or Billing Adjustment

🔎

Check usage first

Compare gallons, billing period length and average daily consumption. A high ADC can move the bill into a higher rate tier.

🚽

Look for leaks

Running toilets, underground service-line leaks, humidifiers, irrigation and stuck valves can create large water and sewer charges.

🧾

Request adjustment if eligible

WSSC says larger-than-expected bills may qualify for a billing adjustment under certain criteria.

Quick WSSC Water/Sewer Usage Estimate

This calculator estimates only the combined commodity charge using FY2027 rate tiers. It does not include Ready-To-Serve charges, fees, Bay Restoration Fund, Front Foot Benefit Charge, adjustments, penalties, account-specific items or flat-rate sewer rules.

12,000 gallons over 90 days for 1 unit = 133.3 gallons/day. Combined commodity estimate: about $240.24 before Ready-To-Serve charges and other fees.

WSSC tiers use average daily consumption per customer unit during the billing period. Multi-unit properties can be billed differently.

Local WSSC Water Tips Users Actually Need

Do not use third-party pay pages for urgent bills

WSSC says third-party companies may charge extra fees and payment arrival is outside WSSC’s control. Use official WSSC channels when the bill is late or service is at risk.

Cash customers should ask for PayNearMe barcode

Cash payment through 7-Eleven, CVS or Family Dollar requires a PayNearMe barcode. Call 301-206-4001 before going.

Service restoration requires more than payment

For a turnoff, WSSC also requires a payment plan and a Release of Liability. Payment alone may not restore water.

Check app alerts during local water main breaks

The WSSC Water app can help with service alerts and problem reporting, useful during local main breaks or sewer emergencies.

WSSC Water Map and Visit Planning

Use the map for general orientation. Verify hours, payment method, holiday closures and whether your issue can be handled online or by phone before visiting.
